Peimar Latin America: Panama, a strategic market for the growth of solar energy

As Intersolar Europe prepares to welcome the photovoltaic industry once again, we spoke with some members of our European team based at Peimar’s headquarters in Italy.Through their daily work with customers and partners across different markets, they have first-hand insight into the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the industry.

How would you describe the current state of the photovoltaic market in Panama, and what opportunities do you see for the coming years?

“Panama is currently going through a phase of consolidation in the photovoltaic market, driven by rising energy costs, growing awareness of sustainability and a favourable regulatory environment.”

“The main opportunities will be in the commercial and industrial sectors, with steadily growing demand for self-consumption solutions, energy storage and smart energy management. In addition, Panama has the potential to establish itself as a strategic hub for Central America and the Caribbean.”

How is Peimar expanding its presence in the Panamanian market, and what are the main objectives of this expansion?

“Peimar is consolidating a presence built over the past few years by strengthening its distribution network and developing partnerships with industry operators that share its commitment to quality and reliability.”

“Panama continues to represent a strategic market for the brand’s growth in Latin America, and the goal is to build long-term business relationships while bringing Peimar technology to an increasing number of customers.”

Which Peimar modules are most in demand or best suited to the local market, and which features are most appreciated by customers?

“In the Panamanian market, as in other Latin American countries, we are seeing growing demand for high-efficiency, high-power modules capable of maximizing energy production and optimizing the use of available space.”

“Peimar’s current portfolio fully meets these needs, offering modules equipped with latest-generation technologies and excellent performance under the climatic conditions typical of our region.”

“However, our experience shows that the purchasing decision goes far beyond module power alone. Customers place particular value on the manufacturer’s reliability, product quality and the strength of the warranties, as they are making an investment with a service life of more than 25 years.”

“One of Peimar’s key distinguishing features is that our warranties are backed by QBE Insurance, an internationally renowned insurance company. This additional level of protection provides greater peace of mind to distributors, installers and investors, strengthening confidence in their investment.”

Considering the climatic conditions in Panama and Latin America, what advantages do Peimar products offer in terms of reliability and performance?

“Panama and much of Latin America present particularly challenging environmental conditions for photovoltaic systems due to high temperatures, high levels of solar irradiation, humidity, saline environments in coastal areas and, in some countries, exposure to dust and sand. For this reason, it is essential to have modules that ensure a high level of reliability and consistent performance throughout their entire service life.”

“Peimar photovoltaic modules integrate high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon technology, which ensures excellent performance at high temperatures and lower degradation over time, helping to maximize energy production throughout the entire life cycle of the system.”

“In addition, our modules have undergone rigorous testing and hold international certifications that confirm their performance even under extreme environmental conditions. These include IEC 61701 certification for resistance to salt mist, particularly important for systems installed near the sea; IEC 62716 for resistance to ammonia-rich environments, ideal for agricultural and livestock applications; IEC 60068-2-68 for resistance to dust and sand; PID Free certification, which ensures high resistance to potential-induced degradation (PID); as well as IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certifications, which confirm the product’s quality, safety and reliability in compliance with international standards.”
